Busy Bee

It's amazing how busy I can get!! One thing I inherited from my mom is the sometimes distructive ability to pack way to many things into a single day.
Everyday of the week I have something planned: Monday-Sammie goes to her friends and I clean; Tuesday-Gymnastics; Wednesday-Library reading; Thursday-Co-op group; Friday-Watch my friend's little boy; Sunday-Teach children's church.

Really the only day I have "off" is Saturday. Then on everyday but Sunday I bring lunch to Paul at work. (he doesn't want to miss any customers) And inbetween all that I try to make sure the house is sparkling clean by the time Paul gets home at 6:00.

I get a bit of a break from a lot of that right now though because Oma and Opa are here! So now Oma has been helping me with the housework (or should I say, I've been helping her. She's been doing most of it).
And Sammie can divide her attention between three people during the day and four at night.
It's great!!

That's Stupid

You wonder, how did my child ever come up with that expression? I don't ever say that!!
Like the expression-that's not fair!! How do they come up with that? You don't hear grown-ups walking around saying that..........well, I guess it depends on where you work.

Another one I don't say-That's stupid. Sammie has been saying that when she feels shafted.
The other day, she got in trouble and Paul sent her to bed. Well, she started saying, "stupid, stupid, that's stupid, ....."

I was going to go in a give her a wack with the wooden spoon but Paul said, "Let's find out first why she is saying that." (It pays to have a husband for a totally different perspective)

So we went in and asked her what was stupid. Well, it was stupid that she didn't have her puppies and blanket that she snuggles with every night. It was stupid that she didn't have anything to cuddle.

We thought that was very perceptive and she got her bed toys!

More Pictures from Co-op

This was the co-op that my team member and I did a couple Thursdays ago. Sammie is the one at the very right with her hand over her mouth in the top picture and the one in the pink shirt and shorts! Can you guess her favorite color?

A prayer request

Could you all please take a moment to pray for a friend of mine. She just lost her baby half-way throught the pregnancy. Her name is Suzie and she and her husband are strong believers, but this would be hard for anyone.

Paul and I also lost a baby in May. On the 31st of October was the due date. So hearing about the loss of my friend's baby was especially painful.

Which Bug loves You?

Have you ever noticed that some people just attract certain types of bugs?

For instance, Paul is a mosquito magnet. If there's a mosquito and she (the female mosquito) has 100 people to choose from, she'll go straight for Paul.
Sammie on the other hand, always manages to land herself on top of a fire ant hill! Poor thing, she's been attacked three times in her short life. While I have no idea what the bite from a fire ant feels like.
Me..........................I'm totally attractive to bees. Last year, I was stung 3 times! Count them.....3. And of course, by the 2nd time I was totally paranoid; freaking out when I heard a fly buzz by.
Two weeks ago, I was "blessed" by the presence of a yellow jacket. Those nasty little things are as aggressive as KILLER BEES, but more numerous. This one decided it would end its miserable, little life stuck in my wrist! By the end of the night, my whole forearm was the size of my husband's and he's the size of a football player!

But am I a trooper or what? I managed to mantain my composure and attend two birthday parties while my arm continued to swell and twich with venom.

So what's the worst pain I've experienced? NOT giving birth, NOT getting an IV put in by a novice, no it's the little creature that chose to leave his stinger in me!
Maybe I AM a woos.

Back from the Beach

So I just got back from the outer banks in NC. I haven't been out there since Paul and I took a drive up the coast back in 1994!

My Uncle and Aunt from Indiana invited Paul, Sammie and I out there for a couple days but Paul felt it was best to stay and work. So Sammie and I had a 5 hour trip out there on Tuesday.
With all the new sights to look at and the fast highway (75 mph/120kph) the time just flew by.

We did a lot of great stuff down on the outer banks: watched the wild horses

climbed the currituck lighthouse (Sammie climbed all 214 steps). As for walking down the steps, well that was another story. We took some beautiful pictures at the top, and boy was it windy!

We also went shopping but I was proud of myself for only spending a little over $100 (including gas) for the whole trip. I sure have gotten cheap over the years.

What was really nice about the trip, was getting to know my Uncle and Aunt. This is my dad's oldest brother and he is so different from my dad! Uncle Lawrence is a laid-back kind of guy, who doesn't like to go out to eat, but does like to talk about anything and everything!
He is a christian so I could kind of let down my guard and just be myself.

He gave me a call after we got back home and said that my Aunt told him that was the best family vacation she can ever remember! I hope she has a long memory.
