Samm"ie" the Star

Sammie and I were in the grocery store yesterday and she saw a lady working underneath the register. So, of course, Sammie had to check it out. She asked the lady what she was doing and staying there for quite a while carrying on a conversation with her. The lady then asked Sammie what her name was and Sammie told her. People usually repeat it to make sure they get it right but when this lady did, she got a surprise......

Sammie said, "It's not Sammie, it's Samm"ie" (with the emphasis on e). I busted out laughing, thinking about when people would refer to Demi Moore as Dem"i". Then I knew I had a little diva on my hands.

Couped Up

Well, Sammie and I have basically been in the house since Saturday night. She apparently has the roto virus. That's like a severe stomach virus. Poor thing, she just lays on her blanket, on the floor with a bowl beside her. She can't seem to get more than a sip of pedialite down and food has no chance. I'm glad the body can handle multiple days without food because she is not eating much of anything.

If you can pray for me as well. It looks like I have a hernia. I had an operation at 21 months old to repair a hernia, but it seems to have torn again. With our medical situation, it could end up costing us a pretty penny, so in my mind the best alternative is healing. The doctor said that they can't do anything while I'm pregnant, I just have to live with it, but when I go in to have the baby, then the surgeon will look at it. I am believing that he will say," What hernia?"

As for now, the baby gets bigger, the older sister gets better and the mommy doesn't lift anything!!!

Sammie's Feet

Sammie came in tonight asking Paul for snuggles and he invited her up onto his lap before bedtime. Paul then grabbed a blanket to put around her and Sammie said," Daddy, tuck in my feet because they are expendable". Paul and I looked at each other with a smile and asked Sammie what expendable meant. She said without a flinch, " that means they need to be snuggled". I love these times.

JW's

I had the Jehovah's Witnesses come this morning. I don't necessarily find it agonizing to talk to them, I guess because I have never had to debate them.
Luckily, I was wearing my cleaning gloves (hard at work in the bathroom) and so they could see that I was right in the middle of something. Hey, maybe I have something there.....just put on your cleaning gloves before you answer the door and that's guaranteed to keep conversations short.
So they said, "We just want people to follow the bible."
My response was that my husband is a Pastor (then they usually gather that you know what you believe) and we follow the bible.
I also thought it was interesting that it was a whole family who came to the door, complete with the cute little girl in a dress. It was almost like they were saying, "we have a cute little girl here, so please don't be mean." I bet it works too.

Great Friends

No matter how far away they are, good friends never change. I feel this way towards our friends Geert and Inge who live across the ocean from us. They are a beautiful family, they love the Lord, and they are always interested in helping out others.

I'd love to live closer to them, but when we go overseas, we always know that they will take care of us. I hope they know we will do the same for them.
