38 weeks

Well, I am now a week farther along than I carried Sammie. I honestly never thought I would make it this far but it just makes me think how different this baby will be from Sammie.
Will she be completely laid back or is it just so nice floating in that amniotic fluid that she's not ready to come out? I know that probably has nothing to do with it; there's some sort of trigger that happens to start the whole process, I would imagine. But it's still fun speculating as to why she hasn't come out to face the world.
You know, there's one thing that really bothers me at this stage, (If you're pregnant, don't read this next part. I don't want to make you worry.) everyone says that if the baby is not moving a certain amount of times in an hour to go in and see the obstetrician, but they also say that if the baby moves too much, it could be fetal distress and to contact the obstetrician. It makes it so worrisome on the part of the mother. So I'm lying there and she starts to move a lot more than normal, should I freak out or just enjoy seeing my belly doing the wave? When I asked my mid-wife, she said that we are not guaranteed tomorrow with anyone, including our children. I thought that was the best answer because it takes the stress off of me and lets me just enjoy every moment I have.

Here's a couple more pictures we took this week.
I went to the Doctor's yesterday and she said I am now 1 cm. dialated and 50% effaced. Trying to guess when I'll deliver is a bit exciting-I have always been a sucker for surprises.

Getting Closer

Well, I went to the doctor's today. They did another ultrasound to make sure Eliana is doing well. The technician said that the baby is around 6lbs, 6oz. So if she's right, then this might be a big baby!! I was expecting her to be bigger than Sammie but this big already......Lord, help me!
(ha ha)

I've also been contracting pretty hard the past two nights, which according to Jenni (my God-sent nurse friend), is normal. I'm just barely dilated, apparently not enough to even measure at this point. I think another couple weeks would be good, then I'll be about a week and a half early.

So.....so far everything seems to be going really well. But, I AM 38 inches around!!!! I hope I never see that except when I'm pregnant.

Intelligent Question

The other day Sammie had an amazing question for me:

"Mommy, if God knew the snake was bad, why did He create him?"

I was very amazed at this question. I just didn't expect her to ask such a question at 4 years old. She does surprise me sometimes.
