Eliana's first Nightmare

Last night Eliana came into our room and (quietly) said,

"Mommy, de green man was tickling me and I was saared."

So I went to her room and laid down on her bed (with my big belly).

Eliana said,

"I tell Daddy about it."

So this morning she told Daddy all about it.

This was the first time Eliana has told me about a bad dream. Of course, I had to write it down.

Sammie's Missing Tooth

Sammie lost her first top tooth on Wednesday. She actually pulled it out herself.

Only 4 months to go!!!

I had a Doctor's appointment yesterday! Everything went great! The baby's heartbeat was strong and the Doctor said he is head down right now.

She told me that after next month's appointment, I'll be in my third trimester and will start coming in every 2 weeks for appointments. I can't believe it! This pregnancy has gone very fast.

So right now I'm at 24 weeks.
....and we are pretty sure about the name for this first boy. Paul and I went through so many names; some that we talked about were:
Paul, Noah, Nathan, Caleb, Lucas
but we decided on
Nicholas.
So I think we are about 99% sure that Nicholas will be his name; we'll call him Nico (pronounced Neeko) for short. I am very happy with that name. There actually aren't that many good boys names that have good meanings. Nicholas means Victorious among the people. I don't mind that. As long as it doesn't mean something like Demon or Athist.
We almost chose Caleb (which was a name in my family history) but then read the meaning: dog (as in loyal like a dog) but still, I didn't want that to be the meaning of my son's name.
Nathan had a nice meaning: My God has given. But Paul said that name would always remind him of hot dogs.
So Nicholas it is....

French!

In Paul’s never ending quest to teach our children cultural sensitivity, Paul has been exclaiming “I’m speaking French” every time he passes gas. (I guess it’s the Western Canadian in him.)

During my latest trip to my esthetician, Eliana was sitting on the examining table and let out a resounding toot off of the vinyl table with a loud BLAAAAARRRRPPPPP. Eliana then, with a smile on her face, yells out “FRENCH!”

The puzzled look on the face of the esthetician demanded that I explain Paul’s twisted sense of humor equating the French language with… er How shall I say this….. Bodily functions.
After I explained Eliana’s interpretation of the French language, we all had a really good laugh.

Men have to be trained

This morning I put Eliana's hair in 2 pig tails. Then (as usual) I said,
"Go show Daddy."

So Eliana trots off to the livingroom and in a couple minutes comes back to me.
"Daddy said, Ohhhhh my gosh!" says Eliana proudly showing me that Paul put his hands over his mouth with an expression of utter amazement at how beautiful she looked.

Then Paul comes into the room and says,
"Actually, when Eliana came in to show me her hair, I said that it looks pretty. But Eliana said, NO, DADDY. NOT LIKE THAT. SAY OH MY GOSH". So Paul follows her instructions for the compliment and places his hand over his mouth and gasps "Oh my gosh, Eliana you look beautiful!" Eliana, now pleased with the compliment, trots off to tell mama.

I guess some men have to be trained to compliment!
