Nice Girls Finish First

A few weeks ago, I took the girls and Nico to Yarbourogh's....it's a local restaurant that has been around since the 30's. They serve soup and sandwiches. They also have a huge assortment of ice cream.

The girls love going there just as much as I did as a little girl.

So anyway, we went into the seated section to eat. We sat down and then someone needed a napkin. So I hopped up and went around the corner to get one. When I came back, Sammie and Eliana were talking to a retired couple in the booth near ours. They were going back and forth, taking turns talking, not letting the other take a breath before the other would continue their sentence. This retired couple kept looking back and forth at each of them as the took their turn to talk. (It reminded me of animals that follow the light on the wall).

I proceeded to sit down at our table and eat my frozen yogurt. I kept looking back to see if the older people were getting tired of hearing the girls. Then their food came and I got up to corral the girls to our table so they could eat. The couple started talking to me and telling me how polite the girls were and very social. I said, "Yeah, whoever tells you the homeschool children are not socialized, has not met my children."

They seems very "taken" by the girls.

Well, today we went into the grocery store (this is now at least 3 weeks later)and a man came up and asked me if I remembered him. I said, "no". He said he was the one in Yarbourogh's. He opened his wallet and handed the girls $10 and said, "Go get yourself some ice cream."

Heavy Metal

Tonight, Paul was flipping through the channels, trying to find something the whole family could watch on TV. He got momentarily distracted by a scientific show, in which a doctor was explaining how he found a foreigh metal in a man's arm. (This was a UFO show). He was talking about how it was not any metal that was found on the Earth.

Of course, the show left Paul hanging by not explaining which type of metal was found. Paul verbally exclaimed,
"Well, which metal was it?"
...to which Eliana said,
"You know, Daddy. The kind of metal they give out at gymnastics."
